Bollinger Scholarship application deadline rapidly approaching

The deadline for applications for PHADA's 2004 Bollinger Scholarship is Friday, February 20. Housing authorities who wish to nominate a scholarship candidate are encouraged to send all application materials as soon as possible. The application form may be downloaded as a PDF file by clicking here.

In order to memorialize Stephen J. Bollinger and encourage academic excellence and community responsibility among high school students, PHADA has implemented a scholarship program for graduating seniors who are preparing to enter college. Students must reside at a PHADA member housing agency (public housing or Section 8) to be eligible.

The scholarship fund will be administered by the PHADA Scholarship Committee and will offer one annual scholarship in the amount of $7,000. The money will go directly to the school that the student will be attending. The school will deposit the money in the student's account. The money may only be used to pay for tuition, books, and activities directly related to the student's education. If the student discontinues his or her education, the unused portion of the scholarship will be returned to PHADA. The scholarship will be formally presented at PHADA’s Annual Convention (May 17-19, 2004 in New Orleans, LA).
