The Deadline for 2020 Nominations is May 1
The Bollinger Foundation is now accepting nominations for its 2020 grant awards. The scholarship grants are presented to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent worked or works in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development. Grants are primarily awarded for educational expenses, including educational needs, school materials, and college tuition.
The Bollinger Foundation is named in memory of Steve Bollinger, the Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1981-1984. He was a dedicated professional who passed away unexpectedly in 1984, leaving behind his wife and four children to deal with the financial and emotional struggles that only the loss of a parent can bring. It is in his memory that the Foundation exists and to date, has awarded $1,128,625 in scholarships, and has helped over 150 families.
Past recipients have said this about receiving a grant from the Bollinger Foundation:
“Life has been challenging since my husband’s passing. Receiving a check for our son was like a bright ray of hope. The funds will benefit him very much. Thank you so much!”
—Mother of 2013 Grant Recipient
“Once again, thank you so much for this opportunity! I’m excited to see what other things I will accomplish this year. I know that most of them would have been unattainable without your generosity.”
—Recipient of 2018 Grant
