Effects Must Be Monitored and Mitigated

There is no question that COVID-19 could adversely affect every housing authority and their residents across the nation. Since the start, PHADA has advocated on your behalf urging the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Congress to act in response to coronavirus. In addition to additional emergency federal funding, the Association urged Secretary Carson to implement broad and immediate support and regulatory relief in order to slow the spread of the virus and to protect vulnerable individuals and families, your staff, and your communities.

In a letter dated March 13, 2020, which can be found here, as well as on PHADA’s COVID-19 Resource Page, the Association urged the Department to immediately waive and suspend a number of activities/requirements/regulations until further notice in order to limit personal interactions and maintain appropriate social distancing practices.
