In response to the ongoing pandemic, HAs have had to navigate multiple new sets of requirements, recommendations, and guidance.
- Federal guidance concerning individuals’ and institutions’ responses,
- State and local stay at home orders,
- Limitations on the number of people who can gather, and
- Concerns for the health and safety of program participants, applicants, and agency staffs.
HAs have taken a broad array of steps intended to reduce people’s potential exposure to SARS CoV-2 (the novel corona virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) and the spread of COVID-19. HUD issued significant waivers and alternative requirements affecting a number of program requirements intended to assist local agencies to meet the diverse and changing new requirements and circumstances they are facing.
