Below is a recap of two recent webinars hosted by PHADA. We were thrilled to have hundreds of our members joined us for the webinars and we received positive feedback on the content presented.
On June 17, PHADA held a webinar entitled “CARES Act Accounting, Eligibility, and Reporting” to update our members on the best ways to track and report how they are spending CARES Act funds. Speakers included Jason Casterline, CPA & Managing Director of BDO PHA Finance, PHADA Trustee Bryan Hoffman, Executive Director of Lebanon County Housing Authority (PA), and David Weber, Policy Analyst for PHADA. Arlene Conn of the Association’s policy team moderated the panel. The speakers shared a wealth of resources including a database to track expenditures, related articles and notices and helpful guidance and best practices.
On June 24, PHADA hosted another webinar entitled “Putting CARES Act Funding to Work: Innovative Uses & Strategies” to provide our members with innovative ways to spend their CARES Act funds. Speakers included PHADA Senior Vice President David A. Northern, Sr., Executive Director/CEO of the Housing Authority of Champaign County (IL), PHADA Trustee John T. Mahon, Executive Director of the Bayonne Housing Authority (NJ), and Crystal Wojciechowski, Policy Analyst for PHADA. Seth Embry of the association’s policy team moderated the panel. The panelists shared a wide variety of uses for CARES Act Funds based on the size of the agencies. While PHADA is pushing HUD to extend this deadline, it is important to note that currently, all CARES Act Funds must be expended by December 31, 2020 or they will be recaptured.
