A Special Message From Secretary Marcia L. Fudge

Dear Valued Stakeholders,

Thank you for being such an integral partner to HUD and our tremendous staff. In my nearly five-decade career in public service, I have had the honor of working alongside many public and private sector agencies to carry out my work. Few have shown the dedication and commitment to the people of this nation as you. It has been a pleasure to work alongside you as we have sought to carry out HUD’s mission with integrity and with respect for the people we serve.

Remarks from HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge during PHADA’s 2021 Legislative Forum.

I am writing to you today, with mixed emotions, to announce my retirement and resignation from the position of Secretary of HUD, effective March 22, 2024. Although I will no longer be HUD’s leader, as a private citizen, my commitment to fairness and equity will remain, as will my support for the work each and every one of you does to ensure everyone in this country has access to stability and opportunity.

Over the past three years, HUD has made historic achievements in affordable housing access, homeownership, and community development. We have helped more than 2 million people become homeowners, more than 1 million people transition from homelessness to permanent housing, and protected vulnerable communities from discrimination and injustice. Most importantly, we have shown the people of this great nation that HUD cares, that the government can work for the people.  We could not have done this work without your input, your support, and your partnership.

I invite you to register here and join me for a special message on Thursday, March 14 at 3:30 pm ET. Thank you, again, for all you have done on behalf of the American people.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Secretary Marcia L. Fudge
