Webinar Scheduled for January 29; Applications Due No Later than March 27
On January 14, HUD announced that it is now accepting applications for the Public Housing Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Grants Program. HUD expects to award $10 million based on prior years’ appropriations. No funds will be awarded until the FY 25 federal budget is finalized.
Maximum grant awards are $250,000. Eligible expenses include fire safety devices including sealed or hard-wired smoke detectors, sealed or hardwired carbon monoxide detectors, crime prevention measures, or improvements to comply with NSPIRE standards.
PIH Notice 2023-10 provides full details, including eligible activities (paragraph 6) and application requirements (paragraph 5). Additional information can also be found here.
Grants are awarded by a lottery that is designed to ensure geographic distribution across HUD’s ten regions and to ensure that small housing authorities (under 250 units) receive a proportional share of the awards.
HUD will hold a webinar on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET, which will be recorded and posted on our website. The purpose of the webinar is to discuss the details of PIH Notice 2023-10 and walk through the PHA application process. PHAs can click here on January 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET to access the webinar.
