PHADA Joins Over 700 Other Organizations in Calling for Full Voucher Funding

PHADA, along with over 700 other national, state, and local organizations, wrote to Congressional appropriators earlier today requesting they reject the Administration’s proposed restructuring of, and funding cuts to, the Housing Choice Voucher program.

As previously reported in the Advocate, the President’s budget request proposes to combine various HUD programs—including public housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, Project-based Rental Assistance (PBRA), and other HUD Multifamily programs—into a State Rental Assistance Program block grant. The request also proposes cutting funding for these programs by $26.7 billion, a 42.4 percent decrease.

The letter requests that Congress reject the administration’s budget request and fully fund the Housing Choice Voucher program. It also includes specific requests that Congress fully fund HCV administrative fees, the Emergency Housing Voucher program, and Project-Based Rental Assistance.

Co-signers of the letter include the public housing industry groups (PHADA, NAHRO, CLPHA, and the MTW Collaborative), multifamily industry groups (National Leased Housing Association, National Multifamily Housing Council), the National Apartment Association, the National Association of Home Builders, the National Association of Counties, and numerous local Housing Authorities.

PHADA will continue advocating for maximum funding for all HUD programs throughout the FY 26 appropriations cycle.
