Sign-On Letter Sent to HUD
On June 18, PHADA, our industry partners, and over 80 industry groups and housing authorities sent a letter to HUD Assistant Secretary Ben Hobbs and other agency officials urging reversal of its decision to suspend the Restore-Rebuild initiative. The letter highlights the many benefits of the Restore-Rebuild initiative, including:
- The opportunity to add desperately needed affordable housing units.
- The value of including Restore-Rebuild in redevelopment financing of existing distressed public housing.
- The need for more flexible timelines to continue working towards closing projects already in the Restore-Rebuild process.
This letter supports the actions taken by PHADA’s Small PHA Committee and Housing Committee during ACE26, directing PHADA to work with industry partners to preserve the Restore Rebuild initiative.
