The Lewiston Housing Authority is seeking a highly qualified candidate to lead the agency and manage its budget of $12.9 million. Its portfolio includes 1,200 housing choice vouchers, project-based vouchers and moderate-rehabilitation units, 437 public housing units, a center for nonprofits, and nonprofit affiliates that provide an additional 56 affordable housing units.  LHA is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners and employs a staff of forty.  LHA is a High Performer under both the PHAS and SEMAP rating systems.  Lewiston is the service center community for western Maine and is the second largest city in the state.
The successful candidate should have completed a Masters degree preferably in business administration, public administration, public finance, urban planning, public policy, urban studies or a closely related field.  Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience with a public housing authority, non-profit housing organization, or a private housing management firm.  However, candidates with exceptional academic or experience backgrounds that compensate for an academic or experience deficiency may still be considered at the discretion of the LHA Board of Commissioners.  Candidates must have, or commit to obtaining within one year, the NAHRO Certified Management Executive Certification or within two years the PHADA Executive Director Education Program.  Finalists will be required to provide academic, work history, and salary history verification.  The consultant will complete criminal and credit history background checks.
