Solutions Architect                             

The Solutions Architect is responsible for all aspects of solutions architecture. This includes overall solutions and data architecture strategy, solutions design, and solutions engineering. The Solutions Architect will be required to create and maintain standards and best practices for data provisioning and data integration. The Solutions Architect acts as a data steward and subject matter expert within the organization and is able to liaise with technical staff, directors, and product development teams. This position plays a key role in building a data warehouse and is an expert in all data warehousing components, infrastructure, and their integrations.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop a strategic plan for the creation of an enterprise data warehouse
  • Create both short and long-term enterprise system technology roadmaps based on an understanding of the organizational strategic requirements, technology context and business needs
  • Ensure development of robust and scalable system architecture
  • Ensure optimization of AH’s application portfolio
  • Lead the effort on recommending and developing a strategy for closing architectural gaps within and in between applications
  • Develop and maintain a strategy and product roadmaps for enterprise application integrations, including SOA, ESB, EAI, ETL environments and integration considerations such as process orchestration, data integration, and master data management
  • Develop and adhere to data modeling standards and best practices
  • Ensure enterprise data is structured for ease of use and identify opportunities for data alignment and re-use
  • Review all data/data repositories on a periodic basis and ensures data is properly classified according to use sensitivity, and importance
  • Implement principles, policies, standards, and guidelines for data management
  • Apply broad knowledge of technology options, technology platforms, design techniques, and approaches across the data warehouse life cycle phases to design an integrated solution to address business requirements
  • Design and plan for the integration of all data warehouse technical components
  • Collaborate with the software development team and external vendor(s) to develop and implement the enterprise data warehouse
  • Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems to Enterprise Data warehouse by offering and implementing associated best practices
  • Ensure that all architectural artifacts are kept up to date
  • Lead systems architecture design effort for all major enterprise ERP projects
  • Assesses the impact of custom development that extends the functionality of out of the box 3rd party solutions
  • Participate early in inception meetings with project stakeholders to help articulate our technology vision and proposed solutions
  • Other related responsibilities as needed

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of SharePoint 2010; including SharePoint configuration, webpart development; comprehensive understanding of SharePoint object models and frameworks, and working with web services for systems integration
  • Solution experience that spans: Business Intelligence (BI), SharePoint technologies such as web application design, service applications, information architecture and structure, Portal development, and workflow design to improve business processing
  • Strong knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), waterfall, Rational Unified Process (RUP), Rapid Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Visio 2010 required
  • Knowledge of application programming, database and system design for data transmission via SQL, FTP, and web-service applications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology discipline or 6 to 8 years of practical hands-on experience in a technical function within IT in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT working in a systems integration and service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft BizzApps/Dynamics preferred
  • Experience with Data Warehousing and data visualization preferred
  • Requires general familiarity with cloud architecture and integration within an enterprise solution
  • 3 years overall experience in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Database Design and Database Development (SQL 2008 R2 preferred) including data warehousing architecture (staging, integration, warehouse and data mart platforms; associated ETL design and toolset)
  • Experience architecting and implementing an enterprise data warehouse from the ground up is required
  • Hands-on experience with software development to include SSIS, SSRS, web services, ETL
  • Experience architecting and designing point to point interfaces between multiple systems is a must
  • Experience integrating with SaaS and cloud-based solutions is a must
  • Experience of working collaboratively with Stakeholders, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Designers, and DBAs with the common goal of delivering value to the business
  • Experience in conducting GAP analysis, build vs. buy analysis, and cost-benefit analysis

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in an office environment with high utilization of computers. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must have a valid State of Georgia driver's license. Ability to lift 20-25 pounds.
