Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PHADA's Annual Convention & Exhibition, scheduled for May 31 - June 3, 2020 in Denver, CO, will not be held as planned.
Taking into consideration stay-at-home orders around the country, travel restrictions, and concerns for the health and well-being of our attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff, we feel that it is not possible to safely conduct the meeting under the current circumstances.
We'd like to thank our members, sponsors, and exhibitors for supporting PHADA and our Annual Convention & Exhibition. We look forward to reconnecting with each of you soon.

PHADA's 2020 Annual Convention & Exhibition is scheduled for May 31 - June 3 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. As always, the convention will provide the latest information housing authority staff and boards need to run their local agencies.
PHADA is planning several timely sessions on matters affecting the industry including HAs that have transitioned under the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD). Some of the main topics include the President's proposed 2021 budget and HUD's implementation of the final FY 20 spending measure. PHADA also plans to cover important legislation including Rep. Maxine Water's bill to infuse billions of dollars into the Capital Fund, and the "Green New Deal" for public housing.
Also on the agenda are repositioning issues including the streamlined voluntary conversion plan and changes in demolition-disposition procedures. There will also be sessions on pending changes in the Annual Contributions Contract, PHADA's efforts to secure Section 8 administrative funding through its "fungibility" proposal, and the ongoing NSPIRE inspections demonstration. New developments in the Choice Neighborhoods program and HOTMA implementation will also be reviewed.
In addition to these innovative sessions for executive directors and their staffs, PHADA will provide training for commissioners. Expected sessions will cover repositioning, important insurance-related issues, effective strategic and succession planning, HUD's salary reporting and comparability review requirements, ethics, and current events in housing, among other topics.
Some other topics that will be covered include enhancing safety and security for HAs (including cyber security), potential new consortia opportunities, and the industry accreditation program, featuring its performance standards. PHADA also plans to cover the latest on the Dept. of Homeland Security's proposed "public charge" and HUD's "mixed family" immigration rule.
These are just some of the planned sessions for the 2020 Annual Convention & Exhibition. Other sessions are now in the works and will be announced shortly. Look for more specific details on workshops, sessions and other convention highlights in the Advocate and on the PHADA website.
